Creating our Future – Activation Events

A virtual Research Community Activation event for Creating Our Future – a Government of Ireland campaign, to stimulate a national conversation to generates ideas from the public to inform the direction of research in Ireland.

‘‘Anyone, anywhere can have an idea that inspires research. It could be based on an opportunity or challenge that someone has identified in their own life, for their community, for Ireland or for the world. Or it could be based on a topic that someone is curious or passionate about. The campaign wants to hear them all – whatever facet of life they relate to. A final report will also contribute to informing Ireland’s policy on research and innovation, as such we encourage you to support this initiative.

From now until the end of November, the campaign will be reaching out to engage people, groups and communities. Central to this is working with researchers and the research community to actively engage them in the campaign’s events and activities.  Researchers and the research community can play a key role in informing the public about research, its importance and what it can achieve, as well as providing practical examples of their work.

This virtual Researcher Community Activation Event will provide you with an opportunity to hear more about

• the background to and objectives of the campaign from Simon Harris T.D., Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science (Min Harris availability TBC)
• the roll-out of the campaign across the country through our road show and virtual events
• the practical steps that researchers and the research community can take to support and benefit from the campaign
