Supporting and connecting policymaking in the Member States with scientific research launch event

An event to launch the Commission Staff Working Document on “Supporting and connecting policymaking in the Member States with scientific research” is taking place on 26th October 2022 between 13h00 and 15h00 Irish time.

The Staff Working Document (SWD), a joint initiative of the European Commission’s Directorates-General (DG) Joint Research Centre and Research and Innovation with the support of DG Structural Reform Support, seeks to promote policy debates and development in the area of a better use of scientific knowledge for policymaking in the Member States. It lays out the rationale for building capacity for science for policy, identifies key challenges, and presents EU and national policies, initiatives, instruments, and good practices in support of science for policy.

The launch event will, in addition to introducing the SWD, include interventions by the leadership of DG JRC (Stephen Quest), RTD (Joanna Drake), and REFORM (Mario Nava), as well as senior representatives from key Member State’s organisations in the area of science for policy.
