Dr Claire Whelan

Claire is the National Contact Point for Horizon Europe Cluster 4 – Digital, Industry and Space at Enterprise Ireland, focusing on digital and industry processes. She holds a BSc from Maynooth University and a PhD in Computer Science from DCU, where her research focused on Cryptography. With more than 17 years’ experience in research and innovation management, Claire has led successful funding bids across FP7, Horizon 2020, and Horizon Europe. Specialising in multidisciplinary collaborations and advancing digital technologies, Claire previously served as Head of the Research Development Team at ADAPT and Head of the Research Unit at Trinity College Dublin’s School of Computer Science and Statistics. Earlier in her career, she worked as a postdoctoral research fellow in University College Cork, and as a project manager in industry.
