Irish company, Pilot Photonics, is to receive over €10 million from the Horizon Europe European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator fund. The EIC Accelerator supports companies to scale up high impact innovations with the potential to create new markets or disrupt existing ones. Pilot Photonics has developed patented photonic chip technology that uses laser light to generate exceptionally pure wireless signals, essential for AI data centres, satellite communications, 5G and 6G mobile networks, and other strategic applications. Irish space technology company Mbryonics is scaling production of its groundbreaking StarCom optical communications system with support from the European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator. The Horizon Europe-funded project received a €2.5 million grant and a €15 million equity investment recommendation to commercialise technology that enables ultra-high-speed, secure data transfer between satellites. Dubbed the “Internet in Space”, StarCom will support next-generation satellite networks while strengthening Europe’s position in deep-tech innovation. The investment is also driving advanced manufacturing in the west of Ireland, creating high-value jobs and supporting the growth of Ireland’s space sector

Galway based medical device company CrannMed Ltd today announced that they have been approved for a recommended investment of up to €12.5m from the Horizon Europe European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator. CrannMed has developed a resorbable embolic microsphere called SakuraBead™. The first phase of the investment (€2.5m) will allow expansion of the technology to treat chronic inflammatory pain in different areas of the body.
