Visitors from over 50 countries to focus on sustainable mobility future with global leaders
Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan says Transport Research Arena 2024 (TRA2024) will be a milestone in Ireland’s journey towards finding new ways to move people and goods. As the largest transport and mobility research event ever staged in Ireland, TRA will attract more than 3500 delegates from over 50 countries and be worth an estimated €7m to the Irish economy. It’s set to take place at the RDS in Dublin from 15 – 18 April.
Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan, TD is the President of TRA2024. He says the event is a fantastic opportunity for Ireland to lead the way forward: “The ways we move people and goods have to change. TRA2024 is about bringing people together to face that reality and inspiring a sustainable and inclusive transport future. By bringing them together in our capital city, we’re putting ourselves at the centre of innovation and entrepreneurship at a really critical time for this sector. I’m confident this event will mark a milestone for much of how transport is viewed in Ireland in the future”.
TRA2024 has a packed programme featuring contributions from entrepreneurs, industry leaders, policymakers and academics. Speakers are travelling to Dublin from across Ireland, the UK, the EU and the US for the occasion. Delegates will have the opportunity to hear about the cutting-edge technology and ideas that will be central to how people and goods are moved in the years to come.
Peter Walsh is CEO of Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), which aims to provide sustainable transport infrastructure and services. He says this is a great year to bring TRA to Ireland: “This is the 10th edition of TRA and the first time it has been staged outside of mainland Europe. Since it was established, TRA has earned a reputation as a key event for the research and business communities when it comes to discussing and witnessing the future of all modes of transport. To have this taking place in Ireland is a unique and exciting opportunity and I am greatly looking forward to taking part”.
Minister Ryan and Peter Walsh recently gathered with a group of TRA2024 stakeholders to showcase some of the eco-friendly transport options for people and goods, which will all be appearing at TRA2024, including An Post e-trikes, several cargo bikes from BikeLibrary.eu and a delivery drone from Manna Drone Delivery.
A Horizon Europe Pitching Session will take place at TRA2024 on 17 April – find more information here.
