The components of the SSLS have been bought, assembled and optimized for the last 10 years. The SSLS is in a highly productive state now and used in multiple state of the art research fields such as hydrogen production, corrosion, catalysis, nuclear fuel safety, and in general solid state actinide chemistry and physics. Regrettably, with limited human resources available, it is not possible to continue operating this equipment optimally. However, we see this as an opportunity to transfer the valuable machine to a University or research institution working in the field in a European Member State, where it can continue to be utilized for cutting-edge research and education while JRC and Member State institutions can still have access to it and can use it in the frame of an Open Access programme.
Therefore, a call for expression of interest to set up a list of pre-selected candidates to acquire this equipment is launched on the EU eTendering platform, Ted, with the tender reference number JRC/KRU/2023/CEI/3071
Submission deadline is April 30th, 2024. Please contact gerard.kennedy@enterprise-ireland.com for a short description of the system and a Quick Start Guide with the requirements and procedure for a potential application.
