The Horizon Europe Impact Conference will take place on Thursday, 5 December 2024 in the Convention Centre Dublin.

The event aims to highlight Ireland’s success in Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe which are the EU’s funding programmes for research and innovation, showcasing the benefits and impacts of participation for small and large enterprises, researchers, academics and other stakeholders.

More than 600 delegates from the research and business community are expected to attend the national event which will act as a timely high-profile relaunch of Horizon Europe as it moves into the second half of the 2021-2027 programme.

The conference is organised by Enterprise Ireland which has lead responsibility for the Horizon Europe National Support Network in Ireland; this team is made up of European advisors (National Delegates and National Contact Points) based in nine Irish research and industry agencies including Enterprise Ireland, the Irish Universities Association, Research Ireland, Health Research Board, Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland, Department of Food, Agriculture and the Marine, Environment Protection Agency, the Marine Institute and the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.

The in-person event will cover all three pillars of Horizon Europe focusing on:

(1) research excellence, researcher mobility and talent;

(2) global challenges and European industry competitiveness and

(3) on Innovative Europe – starting, scaling and financing companies, particularly deeptech companies.

The agenda features a plenary session in the morning which will include special guests and panels showcasing Irish success stories to date and best practice to maximise future success. In the afternoon, there will be eight afternoon sessions on topics such as AI in Horizon Europe, innovating for a sustainable future, emerging threats and crisis response and navigating tech sovereignty and civ-mil duality.
